Tree Program (Annual - Beginning 2009):

In 2009, we have started a tree program at Mt. Olivet to remove old stumps and to cut down old, unsightly trees AND to replace them with new trees.

In September 2009, eleven new trees were planted in our cemetery: four weeping willows, two brandy wine red maples, two crescendo red maples, and three weeping cherry trees. It is our plan to continue to add a few trees a year to supplement trees that have been lost over the years.

In the years since we started this program, seven of these new trees have been donated by families in memory of an individual. Please contact our office to receive more information regarding how you can donate a tree.

In 2012, we learned we have the emerald ash borer and are losing all of our ash trees. Our ash trees are mainly located in the southwest corner of our cemetery around Sections J and Eternal Peace. Starting in Spring 2015, we will put a plan in motion to replace all of these ash trees. This process will take many years as it is expensive to remove trees as well as to replace them.
